What happens
- For a body scrub, you first soak in warm water for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- You lie on a bed and an attendant scrubs your whole body to remove dead skin.
- You are rinsed, then shower and change.
- For a massage, staff ask about your problem areas before starting.
Length from The Korea Herald.
Before you book
- Ask what the price covers, such as soaking time, scrub, massage or a face mask.
- Private scrub rooms serve one guest at a time. Book ahead.
- Tell the attendant if you want a softer scrub or massage.
- Public bathhouses can be crowded on weekends.
Watch out for
- At a public bathhouse you are naked in the shared bathing area.
- Strong pressure can hurt, and some people feel light-headed after a massage.

Next step: choosing a shop yourself
- Pick two or three shops near where you are staying. The neighborhoods above are where most listings are.
- Send each shop the same questions: the total price with tax, whether it is per person, whether English is available, and the deposit and cancellation rule.
- Compare the written answers. Booking-site banners are often promotions and change without notice.
- For lasers, injections or anything a doctor does, read the treatment page first and ask the clinic for its registration to treat foreign patients.
