What happens
- You pick a photo type, such as an ID photo or a profile portrait.
- Some visitors get hair and makeup done first, then go to the studio.
- The photographer takes your photos.
- Ask what retouching is included before the shoot.
Before you book
- Check your own country's photo rules if you need the photo for a passport or visa.
- Ask how many retouched photos are included and what extra edits cost.
- Ask whether you get digital files, prints or both.
- If hair and makeup are included, plan for a longer visit.
Watch out for
- Heavily edited photos can be rejected for official documents. Korea's interior ministry said in 2023 that national ID cards cannot use a transformed photo.

Next step: choosing a shop yourself
- Pick two or three shops near where you are staying. The neighborhoods above are where most listings are.
- Send each shop the same questions: the total price with tax, whether it is per person, whether English is available, and the deposit and cancellation rule.
- Compare the written answers. Booking-site banners are often promotions and change without notice.
- For lasers, injections or anything a doctor does, read the treatment page first and ask the clinic for its registration to treat foreign patients.
