Korean sunscreens: light textures, little white cast, and the UV filters they use
Korean sunscreens are popular worldwide for their light textures. Korean brands focus on textures people are willing to wear every day, which matters because sunscreen only works if you apply it. Korean brands can also use UV filters like Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus, and Uvinul T 150, which are not approved in the United States.
Look beyond the SPF number. The PA rating (PA+ through PA++++) shows UVA protection, and PA++++ is the highest. Check the UV filters: chemical filters are light but can irritate some sensitive skin; mineral filters (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) are gentler but can leave a white cast; hybrid formulas use both. Textures include watery essences, gel-creams, milks, and sticks.
